Invented in Austria and manufactured in Switzerland, Luminoso is a new-patented material combining wood and light, made by embedding fiber optics between layers of solid wood with a specially formulated adhesive. The fiber optic transmits light through the panels of wood, which allows static and moving images to be displayed through the wood, and allowing natural or artificial light behind Luminoso to become visible on the other side. Blocking the light by using graphics (words, logos, shapes) behind the panels allows for the creation of customized effects.
